Criteria will be marks as well as a desire to help others. I grew up on a farm in rural Manitoba and attended a one room school. High school was 5 1/2 miles away so I got there the best way I could. Since there was no grade 12 available in the village, I attended United College, graduating as a Honour Student. I enrolled in the Winnipeg General Hospital, now "Health Science Centre" School of Nursing, graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1960 and was presented with the Gold Medal for General Proficiency. This included a scholarship which was used to enroll a the U of S in Saskatoon for post-graduate in Teaching and Supervision. I graduated as an Honour Student in 1962. After time in the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) I married, moved to Northern Manitoba where I was Matron of the small mining town hospital. My nursing career was not long but stood me in a good position for life experiences. I gave up nursing to look after our two sons and help in our family business. My father was killed in a farm accident when I was thirteen years old. I learned how to work hard at an early age. I hope the recipient of this scholarship will work diligently towards the goal. I wanted to pay it forward. - Marilyn Saul Application Requirements Application Requirements Application Form Cover Letter/Letter of Application Scholarship Resume Letter(s) of Reference/Recommendation Transcript Application Form Application Form - School Awards Application Form (2024) Application Form URL 2 - Click here to submit your completed School Awards application. back to award list
