Date

We are excited to share that more child care seats are on their way to the District of Metchosin. Today, we joined Minister Mitzi Dean and MLA Ravi Parmar in announcing a new child care centre that will open at Hans Helgesen Elementary School.

This project has been made possible thanks to funding from the provincial ChildCareBC New Spaces Fund and the federal Child Care Infrastructure Fund. The new facility will be a stand-alone building located on the school grounds, designed to provide a total of 56 child care spaces. These spaces will include 12 for infants and toddlers, 20 for children aged 30 months to kindergarten, and 24 for school-age care.

The estimated completion date for the centre is fall 2026, offering much-needed child care support to local families. We look forward to sharing more details as the project progresses.
