Sooke School District Welcomes New Secretary-Treasurer

Picture of Brian JonkerThe Sooke School District is excited to announce the appointment of Brian Jonker as the new Secretary-Treasurer, effective January 2025. Jonker succeeds Harold Cull, who will retire in December after 12 years of outstanding service to the District.

With over 15 years of senior leadership experience, including roles within the BC Government’s Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Education, Jonker brings a wealth of expertise in financial stewardship, governance, and strategic planning. His collaborative approach and proven leadership in managing large-scale projects and budgets will be invaluable as the District continues to grow as the fastest-growing school district in British Columbia.

Superintendent Paul Block shared, “Brian’s experience and commitment to collaboration will play a key role in supporting our students, staff, and communities.”

Jonker expressed his excitement, stating, “I am beyond thrilled to join the Sooke School District family and look forward to contributing to its bright future.”
