Sooke Fire Fighters Annual Scholarship

The Sooke Fire Fighters Annual Scholarship recognizes and rewards a graduating student‐resident of Sooke.  Sooke Fire Fighters are committed to not only the protection of our community, but also to its growth and support.  Just as fire fighters are synonymous with service, initiative, and selflessness, the scholarship will acknowledge applicants who exemplify these same attributes through dedication and leadership in service of school and community.

ELIGIBILITY
In order to qualify for the Sooke Fire Fighters Annual Scholarship, applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:
‐ Applicant must live within the District of Sooke municipal boundaries
‐ Applicant must be graduating in June of the current school year with a BC High School Diploma or equivalent
‐ Applicants must be embarking on a full‐time educational program, which can include College or University, Technical School or Vocational Training   
‐ Intended post‐secondary institution must be accredited in accordance with Student Aid BC  

SELECTION CRITERIA
Each applicant will be evaluated on the following criteria, in order of priority:
‐ Demonstrated leadership in both community and school environments
‐ Citizenship
‐ Academic Performance
** Additional merit may be considered for applicants with demonstrated family history of emergency services participation
