The Quentin Liedtke Memorial Bursary is in honour of a former student of EMCS.
Quentin was born and lived his formative years in Sooke. He attended kindergarten, went to Sooke Elementary, and then on to EMCS. He graduated on the Honour Roll and moved on to the University of Victoria. During his time there, he achieved many things. His Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science put him on a path of great success.
During and after graduation he worked with software developers in the retail grocery, music production industry and finally in developing apps. Medilabs, the last company he worked with, had 8 employees when he started and 125 when he left. This company sent Quentin all over North America to help guide and develop apps for many very large companies. One of his goals was to have an equal gendered work environment. Software development is an international stage and Quentin was able to work with developers worldwide and also work with his company’s home office in Victoria. He found great satisfaction in his career that was started with great teachers, mentors and EMCS.
Quentin always was a family man, whether with his growing up family or his loving wife and two daughters. He tried to balance family life with his passion for cycling, triathlons and work. After an 18 month battle with Glioblastoma, an incurable and aggressive brain cancer, Quentin passed on December 27, 2020.
It’s our Family’s honour to present this Bursary to a student who will be entering the Medical Field, Nursing, or Research. The care, passion, and medical attention that Quentin received was not only felt by him but also his family and friends. In turn, we would ask that you please help the people in need, with your passion and make their journey in life through some hard times, a little easier.
Always Be Positive and Keep Smiling
