Diploma or Certificate in Early Childhood Education, including ECE BC Certificate to Practice
Child Safe First Aid Certificate
Criminal Record Check, prior to hiring
Preferred candidate will have:
Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture
Sensitivity to issues facing Indigenous communities
Successful experience working with Indigenous families
Ability to work effectively with a variety of parents/caregivers, children, volunteers, professionals and community members
Experience in a variety of Early Childhood Education settings, working with diverse populations
Good organization and planning skills

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Deliver a program that promotes the following areas of children’s development: physical health and well-being, social and emotional development, language and cognitive development and the communication skills of infant/toddler and preschool-aged children.
2. Ensure the programs and activities are developed and maintained in response to the BC Early Learning Framework.
3. Offer family-friendly environments for parents/caregivers and opportunities for parents/caregivers to make connections.
4. Provide opportunities for parents/caregivers to observe and practice activities to support early learning.
5. Collaborate with the remote community to develop a program that meets their unique needs.
6. Attend meetings and professional learning that pertain to StrongStart, as required.
7. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with community partners and service providers.
8. Promote the StrongStart Program, as required.
9. Take attendance in MyEd when the program is in session.
10. Purchase supplies and food/snacks.
11. Prepare food/snacks for program.
Service Delivery:
Plan and facilitate the delivery of the StrongStart Program
Set up and take down, as necessary, program materials and equipment
Provide current early learning information to parents/caregivers
Respond to parent/caregiver requests for information and resources
Maintain confidentiality in all matters relating to children and parents/caregivers except where the law requires disclosure
Respect parent/caregiver and cultural values, goals and expectations
Promote, support and facilitate parent/caregiver/child relationships
Build on existing strengths
