Job Description

Adjacent to Victoria on southern Vancouver Island, Sooke School District is the fastest growing school district on Vancouver Island and one of the fastest growing districts in British Columbia. District Principal Pathways and Choice

Effective August 1, 2025

The District Principal of Pathways and Choice provides a strong vision for programming and resources to support student choice in their education, creating multiple pathways to success and graduation for all students, K-12. Specifically, the District Principal supports programs of choice for students who may prefer to learn in alternative environments, provides direction for career programs and opportunities within the District as well as oversight and direction for the District's academy programs. The District Principal will work under the direction of the Associate Superintendent, in partnership with other district staff, and as part of the District's Leadership Team. The District Principal is responsible for providing leadership and supervision in alternative pathways to graduation, including online learning, alternative education programs, post-secondary transition programs, career and work experience programs, continuing education, and all academy programs.

And have the required education and experience noted below:

Masters' Degree in Educational Leadership or a related field

Bachelors' Degree in Education

Valid BC teaching certificate or eligibility for certification

Minimum of five (5) years of recent and successful experience in a leadership position including a minimum of three (3) years of exemplary service as a principal/vice principal in Secondary (9-12) at the school or district level leading programs, initiatives, and staff

Experience related to working with at-promise youth and/or adult learners in an alternative school setting an asset

Experience with using on-line learning technology such as the Learning Management System (Moodle) an asset

Experience leading and teaching in a unionized public-school setting using the BC curriculum preferred

The salary range for this full-time position is $157,676 to $166,124 per annum.

Initial placement within the range is based on related education and experience.
